De-mortal
DESCRIPTION

De-mortal is an audio-visual work that examines the relationship between nature or human-made objects and contrasts this with the concept of “digitally-made” — generative structures that mediate between digitized objects from the physical world.

The project’s primary sources are 3D scans of human-made items and natural objects found throughout Cyprus. These objects, representing the physical world, become “frozen” in digital reality, where they exist solely as stored data. In contrast, generative data, constantly created in real time within a computer program, represents digital reality. Unlike scanned objects, this data has the ability to grow, move, and evolve over time. Here, the digital becomes “alive,” while the physical becomes “not alive.”
